Dúlra Aiteach ; Celebrating exuberant queer ecologies
Did you know that dandelions are asexual? That pigeons will form gay partnerships? Or that some trees can change gender from one season to the next?
Queerness in nature is all around us, reminding us of the multiplicities of life that have appeared, adapted and thrived over billons of years. So too have queer people adapted to a modern world that continually wishes to erase us and reduce the world to a system of ordered binaries and hierarchies.
Thriving in the in-between spaces, appearing like dandelions in the cracks of the concrete, we have more in common with wild nature than we could ever dream! Queerness is wildness in all its diverse, delicious & vibrant beauty.
Join Lucy for this curious exploration of queerness in nature alongside our plant and animal kin.
This is a collaborative enquiry into how queerness is reflected back to us from the natural world. Yes, you are queer enough to join! Blending Béarla agus Gaeilge.
When:
Thursday 3rd
Time: 1100-1400 each day
How much: €15
Location: On the liminal zone of Machaire Rabhartaigh, Magheroarty back strand. Meeting in the car park at 11am.
This event will take place entirely outside. Please dress for the weather, bring a packed lunch and drinking water. Limited to 15 people per workshop.
