Airmid’s Journal - An Fómhar 2026
Ceol, Amhránaíocht agus Damhsa
“It’s a very fitting time of year to offer this new collection of essays, music and art to the world. The fraughans are ripe for picking, the summer is coming to a close, and tradition says that we ought to make our way to a high place, or a low place, to gather together and bring our collective attention to the beginning of the harvest; with sheaves of corn and fraughans threaded on stems. It’s also the time of dancing, of rejoicing, of song and connection to land and community.”
With contributions from:
Co-edited by Lucy O’Hagan and Denise Conroy
Illustration and Layout by Denise Conroy
“We hope that the ceol, damhsa agus amhránaíocht that spills out over the edges of these pages reminds you of something. That every step pressed into the ground can be a seed of solidarity. Every note picked out on the fiddle a crack in the neoliberal walls that divide us. Every song remembered a new stitch in an old garment that is still very much worth holding on to”.
