Wildlife Track and Sign Workshop
We are delighted to welcome John Rhyder of the Woodcraft School back to North West Donegal this autumn for a three day Wildlife track and sign workshop.
John Rhyder is the only senior tracker in Northern Europe having scored 100% in both track and sign and trailing in specialist evaluations, the highest assessed level possible in the CyberTracker system. John is also an evaluator for the CyberTracker system.
Track and sign
This programme covers the recognition of the track and sign left behind by the passing of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians and even on occasion insects. The course will include foot morphology and identification of tracks, feeding signs, droppings, beds and resting areas, skulls bones and feathers. Sessions combine classroom theory with practical fieldwork, often across multiple sites, allowing participants to see a wide variety of species in natural settings. These workshops provide a detailed introduction to tracking but are still packed full of information. They are suitable for newcomers or as a refresher for those seeking to deepen their knowledge.
Where?
We will be between the diverse surroundings of Gartan Lough and Ards Forest Park, Northwest Donegal. We will be outside for the entirety of the four days so please be sure to dress appropriately for all weathers. Full kit list will be provided.
